With 27 machines in operation, the Itauguá National Hospital performs dialysis 24 hours a day

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Itauguá National Hospital implemented a strategy to keep its dialysis service running, serving approximately 120 patients daily, with 27 operating machines, and 24 hours a day, reports the Ministry of Public Health.

They explain that despite facing technical challenges, the hospital is working to ensure that all patients receive the necessary treatment.

The hospital currently has 34 dialysis machines, of which 7 are temporarily out of service. However, the remaining 27 machines operate 24 hours a day on a rotating shift schedule, the health ministry explains.

This allows patients to be treated in four shifts, including a night shift for those requiring dialysis during the early morning hours.

Hospital director Dr. Miguel Ferreira highlighted the hospital’s commitment to ensuring that no patient is left without treatment.

“Our team has worked hard to maximize the capacity of our machines and adapt schedules so that we can serve all of our patients without interruptions,” he said.

In addition, the hospital has implemented a transportation system for patients who need to be transported from their homes to the medical center for treatment in the early morning hours. The hospital’s ambulances carry out these transfers in a coordinated manner, ensuring that patients arrive on time for their dialysis sessions and can return home safely.

Ferreira also reported that the Ministry of Health is working to speed up the process of acquiring new equipment to strengthen the service provided at the hospital, as well as repairing equipment that is currently out of service.
