With 2 goals from Higuain, Miami crushes Orlando 4-1

Gonzalo Higuain scored two goals in his first game since announcing he will retire at the end of the season, and Inter Miami advanced to the postseason by beating Orlando City 4-1 on Wednesday.

With his first touchdown in the 38th minute, the Argentine put Miami ahead 2-0. He extended the score to 3-0 with a penalty in the 52nd minute.

The 34-year-old striker joined Miami in September 2020. This campaign he has scored 16 league goals, including 14 in his last 16 games, and a total of 29 in 66 appearances for the club.

Costa Rican Ariel Lassiter and Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana also scored for Miami, which is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, with 48 points.

Ercan Kara scored the only goal for Orlando in the 71st minute. City stayed at 45 units, just below the playoff zone.

On Sunday, Miami hosts Montreal and Orlando hosts the Columbus Crew.

In another game of the day, Charlotte and Columbus tied 2-2. For Charlotte, the Mexican Daniel Ríos scored at 58 minutes and the Brazilian Andre Shinyashiki in stoppage time, at 94 minutes.

Columbus got his annotations through Argentine Lucas Zelarayán at 36 minutes and Costa Rican Luis Díaz at 54.
