Burning record: How to do it?

It is very easy to announce in advance that you are going to make a fire in the open space via the BURNING RECORD on the link https://paleni.izscr.cz/. You simply select the exact location on the map and enter the data. The information will then be automatically forwarded to the relevant operational centers. Firefighters, thanks to the recording of burnings, go out to false alarms less often, which are usually regarding a third more than the daily average during the St. Philip’s Night. Firefighters intervened in less than thirty fires in the whole of the Czech Republic last year, which were related to the burning of witches. In 16 cases, it was a false alarm, i.e. unreported burning. Almost 8,000 bonfires were reported last year on St. Philip’s Night.

The law on fire protection imposes the obligation to notify of burning in advance on legal entities and natural persons doing business, but it may also apply to natural persons, if so determined by local ordinances.

How to enjoy witches safely?

·
Place the fireplace in a safe place. It must be at least 50 m from the edge of woodland, 100 m from a stack of straw and also at a safe distance from buildings so that sparks do not ignite the roof. Isolate the burning site from combustible materials and demarcate it with a 1 meter wide strip free of combustibles.

·
Take care when building a log border. It should be stable enough so that there is no danger of it collapsing sideways.

·
Do not use gasoline or other flammable liquids to start a fire. Sudden ignition and injury may occur.

·
Do not make a fire during periods of drought or strong winds. It is necessary to pay attention to the current weather situation.

·
Beware of contact of clothing with fire. Do not approach or jump over the fire. Watch young children.

·
Prepare enough water to extinguish the fire. If you don’t have water at hand, use sand or clay, for example.

·
Call the fire department if the fire spreads. You should know the exact location, provide access routes for fire engines.

·
An adult must light the fire. One adult over the age of 18 must also be present at the burning site at all times. Never leave small children unattended in the presence of a lit fire.

·
Always watch the fire. You can leave the burning site only following it has completely gone out, thoroughly covered with water or covered with earth.

In the event that clothing catches fire and you do not have enough water or other extinguishing material at hand, follow the rule Stop, lie down and roll. Fire spreads faster when running and walking. If you lie on the ground, cover your face with your hands and start rolling from side to side, you will put out the flames.

Firefighters advise people to participate in organized events where fire safety is ensured in advance.
