Wireless is doing well in 2022. –

On the occasion of the IFA, GFK has just released its study on the various wireless products that were sold in 20222. Audio speakers, computer products, accessories and peripherals dedicated to video games or even in the field of health and home automation. And the first half of 2022 has been good for the sector.

The site has been around for over ten years now. And if at the start, we were only talking regarding Wi-Fi routers, Wi-Fi USB keys, the site then diversified by integrating all wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, Qi and many others. others.

On the occasion of the IFA, GFK takes stock of our universe for this first half of 2022. And more particularly in terms of wireless products and solutions in several sectors, the occasion following a pandemic and the passage of Covid from take stock of the market.

The wireless market is doing well.

Thus GFK has just published its figures and has also taken an interest in wireless gaming and we learn that sales of wireless keyboards and mice have increased by 48% and 14% respectively. On the other hand, gaming laptops grew by 3% during this period. A growth which according to GFK is linked to the fact that wireless in the world of gaming is still very little represented. In fact, many gamers still have wired peripherals or accessories. Also, in the past, due to higher latency, wireless mice and keyboards didn’t necessarily have a good reputation. Which is no longer really the case according to market players.

It is true that two years ago we had the opportunity to discuss with a manager from Razer during the Medpi show in Monaco and he admitted to us that there was no longer any difference in terms of response time between their wired mouse and their wireless mouse.

In addition, the laptop market dedicated to gaming is growing more and more with interesting configurations at prices that are still expensive compared to a desktop laptop (1.4 times more expensive). However, gamers value having a good laptop more and more than a big tower.

A trend that may not last?

According to GFK, we will have to see at the end of the year and the beginning of the year 2023 what will happen. Indeed, the research firm points out that these last two segments have had strong growth, in particular “thanks” to the Covid, which has forced consumers to change their habits following the various confinements and the implementation of telework. Many consumers have therefore turned to this type of solution, which is ultimately easy to set up. It was also the same with the youngest who saw their court being done at home with hybrid solutions. So many circumstances that have made some people decide to invest in gaming equipment at home.
