A serious traffic accident occurred in Winterthur on Wednesday evening: Shortly following 5:30 p.m., the Winterthur city police received reports of several injured people on Taggenbergstrasse. When the rescue workers arrived, two injured people were already being cared for by passers-by.
According to initial investigations by the police, a 29-year-old driver from Switzerland turned from Riedhofstrasse into Taggenbergstrasse at 5:30 p.m. She missed two people on the pedestrian crossing there and there was a collision, as the Winterthur city police wrote in a statement. The pedestrians were seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital by the ambulance service. The two injured are a 62-year-old Serbian woman and her 63-year-old husband.
Due to the rescue and the police recording of the accident, there were significant traffic obstructions in the Taggenbergstrasse/ Riedhofstrasse area until shortly before 8 p.m. The Zurich Forensic Institute (FOR) was called in to secure evidence.
