Winterthur Lakes: Man (32) beaten and set on fire by a group in Winterthur

A man was injured by several people later on Saturday evening in Winterthur-See. Around 11 p.m., a man got on the bus line 2 at the “Depot” bus stop. At that time, a group of young men was already on the bus. Due to the rather tight space conditions, the solo traveler accidentally bumped into a man from the group, which led to a verbal argument. According to the Zurich cantonal police, the group urged the man to get off at the “Waser” bus stop, and she also left the bus.

After the vehicle drove off, several men from the group punched and kicked the 32-year-old with their fists and feet. A member of the group also sprayed a flammable liquid and ignited it, causing the victim to suffer burn injuries as well as bruises.

When a passer-by and a motorist stopped at the bus stop, the unknown perpetrators fled towards the center of Winterthur-Seen. An ambulance team responded immediately to take care of the injured. He was then taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The immediately initiated search for the perpetrators was unsuccessful.

The exact circumstances of the crime are unclear and are the subject of ongoing investigations. Anyone who can provide information about the incident and/or the perpetrators is asked to contact the Zurich cantonal police on 058 648 48 48.
