Three significant winter events are taking place in Aspen. Aspen Snowmass

The Aspen Snowmass ski resort in Colorado is a fashionable hotspot for winter sports aficionados. Hannah Dixon, Communications Director Global Marketing at Aspen Snowmass, was recently in Zurich and presented the latest attractions for the 2024/25 winter season.

The 2024/25 winter season is ready to commence. Not just in this country, but also in Aspen, Colorado, North America. The ski resort with its four distinct mountains opens the winter season on November 28th. Hannah Dixon explained what the trendy winter sports destination has in store for the new season.

Prestigious events with top athletes from the ski and snowboard scene

The year 2025 will begin with three major events in Aspen Snowmass. According to Hannah Dixon, these events will attract the best skiers and snowboarders to the region.

The X Games will commence at Buttermilk Mountain from January 23rd to 25th, 2025 with over 100 of the best ski and snowboard athletes. The top athletes will compete in the disciplines Super Pipe, Slopestyle, Big Air, and Knuckle Huck.

Freeskiers and snowboarders will compete against each other at the US Grand Prix and the Visa Big Air from January 30th to February 6th, 2025. The events will serve as qualification for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Snowboard legend Shaun White is also founding ‘The Snow League’, the first professional league for snowboarding and freeskiing, in winter 2025, which will celebrate its opening on March 7th and 8th.

The former silver mining town of Aspen also has something to offer for art enthusiasts: the 20th anniversary of the art initiative ‘Aspen Snowmass Art in Unexpected Places’ (ArtUP) is approaching.

This year’s season tickets for the Aspen ski resort were designed by American artist Alex Israel. The Los Angeles-based designer creates works of art that draw on pop culture traditions, entertainment, and multimedia. Accompanying the season ticket will be an exhibition by Alex Israel.

The mountain is now accessible to pedestrians

Even guests who are not very familiar with winter sports now have the opportunity to experience the attractions on the mountain: The new Coney Express lift also takes pedestrians up the mountain, which now also offers Aspen’s western charm with numerous restaurants in the center of the Snowmass Mountains.

New for the coming season is the Aspen Snowmass app, which provides information about the condition of the slopes, lifts, and cross-country trails. (OF)
