It’s very easy to get sick in winter

The cold season becomes a problem for people with weak immunity. Viruses that practically do not spread in summer become more active in winter, attacking human bodies.

Immunologist Vladislav Zhemchugov explained how dangerous pneumonia differs from the milder microplasma infection, which is also common in society in winter.

According to the doctor, “microplasma” is similar in symptoms to pneumonia. Patients suffer from cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain. At the same time, microplasma infection is usually less pronounced than pneumonia, its symptoms are weaker.

In addition, with “microplasma” other symptoms may be present. A person may feel weak, tired, have a sore throat, or have a runny nose. Pneumonia usually does not cause such symptoms.

The doctor noted that different treatments are prescribed for these two diseases. To determine the type of infection, a blood test, sputum contents and an x-ray of the lungs are taken.
