Doctors have confirmed that respiratory diseases and colds top the list of winter diseases, which requires taking measures to prevent their symptoms and complications, including taking the necessary vaccinations, proper nutrition, and avoiding the practices that cause them.

Family medicine consultant, Dr. Adel Sajwani, said that each season has special diseases, and one of the most prominent diseases of the winter season is fever and high temperature, which occur as a result of respiratory system infections, caused by influenza viruses and others.

He pointed out that the groups most vulnerable to complications from these diseases are the elderly, children, pregnant women, those with chronic diseases, and health sector workers, advising these groups to take preventive vaccinations, wash hands, continuous sterilization, and wear masks in crowded places.

He continued: “Among the diseases that spread in the winter are eye itching, as a result of dry weather, skin eczema due to allergies, and urinary tract infections as a result of a lack of drinking water during the winter due to a lack of feeling of thirst, in addition to the possibility of developing kidney stones.” He advised drinking enough water. To prevent these diseases, he continued, “The most prominent symptoms that appear during the winter are fever, cough, headache, and cold.”
