PEGI Setiawan admitted to knowing that he won the pretrial lawsuit at the Bandung District Court from the Deputy Director of Detention and Evidence (Wadirtahti) of the West Java (Jabar) Regional Police. This was conveyed by the former suspect in the Vina and Eky murder case in the Metro TV program Si Paling Kontroversi.
“The first person to report this was very interesting, I found out that I won from the Deputy Director of the West Java Regional Police,” said Pegi on Metro TV’s Si Paling Kontroversi program, Wednesday night, July 10, 2024.
Pegi said the Wadirtahti met him at around 12.00 WIB, when he was preparing for the Dhuhur prayer. The Wadirtahti, whose name was not mentioned, immediately congratulated Pegi.
“He said, Pegi is safe. In my heart I asked how safe,” said Pegi.
Pegi said Wadirtahti told him and other prisoners in Pegi’s cell that right is still right and wrong is still wrong. What happened to Pegi was asked to be taken as an example for all prisoners.
“So this is an example for everyone,” he said. “If you’re right, you’re still right, if you’re wrong, you should feel guilty. So, this is to say thank you and congratulations to Pegi, he said. I asked, congratulations for what,” said Pegi.

Previously, the Bandung District Court (PN) panel of judges granted the pretrial motion of Pegi Setiawan’s legal team. The judges also decided that the West Java Regional Police’s Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Direskrimum) would immediately stop the investigation into Pegi for the murder of Vina Cirebon.
“To adjudicate, grant the pretrial motion once morest the applicant on behalf of Pegi Setiawan and declare it invalid and canceled by law,” said sole judge Eman Sulaeman when reading the verdict at the Bandung District Court, Monday, July 8, 2024.
Eman said that the determination of Pegi Setiawan as a suspect in premeditated murder as suspected by investigators of the West Java Regional Police Criminal Investigation Directorate was invalid and not based on law. Therefore, Eman ordered the respondent, namely the Head of the West Java Regional Police Legal Division to immediately release Pegi Setiawan from the West Java Regional Police Detention Center (Rutan).
“Ordering the respondent to stop the investigation into the applicant, ordering the respondent to release the respondent and restore his dignity as before,” said Eman.
West Java Regional Police have implemented the Bandung District Court’s decision. Pegi was released on Monday night, July 8, 2024 and the investigation into Pegi for the murder of Vina Cirebon and Eky was stopped. (Z-7)
