In the last match at their stadium, they and Liberec took the first league point of the new season, but a week ago in Hradec Králové they failed to follow up on it. After the setback in the east of Bohemia, the Zlín footballers fell to last place in the top league table, so Saturday’s home duel with Teplice, which kicks off at 3 p.m., is extremely important for them.
“This time, there wouldn’t be too much trouble. We have the advantage of the home environment, so it is necessary to win at home. Especially with Teplice, which should be roughly at our performance level,” Ševci coach Pavel Vrba roars before the weekend’s match.
However, despite the pre-season forecasts, the North Bohemian team is one of the most pleasant surprises of the league season so far. Among other things, he was able to defeat Pilsen and lastly drew with the champion Sparta. “So far, Teplice are showing considerable quality. They have a stable squad, and now they are benefiting from it,” says coach Zlína.
His team also played very good matches against Sparta and Slavia, but lost narrowly in both. “That’s why we’re worse off in the table than Tepličtí,” states Vrba. He realizes that in the fight against North Bohemia, the Zlín team cannot rely only on defense. For now, however, they are searching in vain for the shooter.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have a classic striker who would score twenty goals per season. On the contrary, there are some new fighters in the team who have never played in such a high competition before,” he means, for example, the summer acquisition of Ndiaye, who was given the opportunity to play in Hradec. “But hopefully one of our offensive footballers will be able to shoot and we will manage the extremely important duel as a result. It would be a big boost for us before the derby in Slovácko and at the same time a springboard for the rest of the season,” Vrba knows well.
Therefore, he would welcome as many spectators as possible to arrive at the stadium. “Hopefully they will show that they are not indifferent to Zlín football and will come in large numbers. It would be a great incentive for us. After all, we play for the fans,” he invited his team’s supporters to the auditorium.
