Wingo captures 40% of the air market between Colombia and Venezuela

Wingo has made available more than 10,000 seats per month, responding to the demand for direct flights between Colombia and Venezuela, thus having control of 40% of the trips. The airline offers 7 weekly flights, divided into 4 Bogotá-Caracas connections and 3 Medellín-Caracas.

The airline has captured 40% of the passenger market, according to data from the Civil Aeronautics of the neighboring country. In addition, it has mobilized more than 50,000 passengers, standing out in the reactivation of air connectivity between the two nations.

Wingo CEO Eduardo Lombana said: “These 50,000 passengers reflect the good acceptance of the Wingo product in the Colombia-Venezuela market. Our high occupancy factors demonstrate the need and demand for direct connections between both nations. We will continue to be the preferred option for travelers in this market and our route network decisions are moving in that direction.».

Eight months following its inauguration, the Bogotá-Caracas route achieved a 90% occupancy rate, transporting more than 40,000 passengers, mostly Venezuelans. Travelers range from professionals on business trips to those seeking family reunions.

In December 2023, the airline increased its offering with an additional flight, now operating 4 times a week at prices starting at $110 one way.

We are aware that there is still a need for direct air connectivity to Venezuela from other cities in Colombia. Together with the aeronautical authorities of both countries, we have made progress in obtaining the corresponding permits so that Wingo can continue to offer its quality, flexible service with very low rates to more Venezuelans and Colombians.“, Lombana added.
