From Valve since before the launch of the Steam Deck, they announced that other operating systems might be installed on the device, as is the case with computers, in this context, it is that now they announced that Windows drivers can already be installed as announced in a recent blog post.
As announced, installing Windows will require additional drivers, so they’ve set up a site from where you can download these resources, and where are drivers for the GPU, for Wifi, for Bluetooth, and audio drivers.
“Just like on any other PC, you can install other applications and operating systems if you wish. If you’re interested in installing Windows, you’ll need some additional drivers for the best experience. Links to these, as well as notes for installing Windows on the Steam Deck, can be found here.
Despite this, as they explained, at the moment it is only possible to perform a full installation of Windows. and although the Steam Deck has the ability to dual boot, “The SteamOS installer that provides a dual boot wizard is not ready yet.”
Along with the above, At the moment you can only install Windows 10, since as they mention Windows 11, the most recent version of the operating system, requires a new BIOS, which is still under development.
Finally they mentioned that they can’t offer support for “Windows on Deck”, so if someone needs to go back to the default operating system they put up a page with the necessary instructions.
