Microsoft publishes a first “Peview” of the new Windows 11 Notepad. The application lands on the DEV channel of the Windows Insider program.
The giant refers to this “Windows 11” edition of Notepad as a redesigned version with a number of changes. It is already argued that these novelties meet the most popular expectations of the community.
Perhaps the most striking fact is a completely updated user interface. It is now aligned with the “design” codes of Windows 11. We are entitled to rounded corners, a dark mode or the application of the famous Mica effect supposed to boost performance. In short, all this should give birth) a “modern” version of the classic application.
Windows 11 and the new notebook
One of the novelties is the dark mode because it is a response to the most important demand of the community. By default, Notepad adapts to the preferences of the system theme. An option in a new settings page allows you to modify it. You will also find in the Settings a new home page for the font options.
On the functionality side, a new search and replacement experience is offered. Microsoft is adding the change back on several levels.
We are in a context of a Preview and there are problems. On this subject Microsoft explains
“In the preview version we’re releasing today, there are a number of known issues that we’ll be addressing in future updates. This includes issues affecting the use of keyboard access keys when switching between different input languages or when using the Japanese IME editor, and under certain circumstances you may notice unexpected behavior when using shift click to select text or while scrolling. We also continue to improve performance when opening very large files. “
