Microsoft has updated the list of AMD, Qualcomm and Intel processors supported by its Windows 11 operating system. New benchmarks appear while at least one processor, the Intel Core i3-L13G4 is discontinued.
Any new edition of Windows comes with system requirements when it launches. This includes information on storage, RAM, GPU or processor. All this information allows PC manufacturers, system administrators and users to know if their current or future devices are or will be compatible and able to take advantage of the latest advances and technologies.
The arrival of Windows 11 has brought a lot of changes to the point that millions of devices running Windows 10 are not allowed to “migrate”. Their hardware configurations do not meet the minimum requirements. There are ways around this problem, for example by using some tools like Rufus. However, Microsoft has said on this subject that these devices will not be part of the targets of the various Patch Tuesdays.
Windows 11, is your processor compatible?
The giant indicates that its OS requires a modern processor. It also offers different approaches to find out if your PC is compatible. An official tool allows you to check each point while different hardware lists are published including three lists of supported processors. Here are the links

A quick comparison with the origin lists reveals that Microsoft has added the following references
AMD > 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7800X3D or 5800X3D but also Ryzen 3 4100, Ryzen 5 4500 or Ryzen 5 5600. Intel > Core i9-13900KS, Core i5-1334U or 13500HS, Qualcomm > Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Microsoft SQ3
Windows 10 continues to be the most popular Windows in the world. Its support is assured at least until October 2025. Its requirements are roughly identical to those of its elders, which partly explains its success and the difficulty of Windows 11 to impose itself. Windows 12, rumored to launch in 2024, will likely rely on system requirements.
