The launch of Windows 11 did not go unnoticed. It came with a demanding minimum system requirement or point to making hundreds of millions of computers incompatible.
Leaving aside the controversy, this approach has blocked the “durability” of many computers. Oddly last year, the upgrade appeared on normally incompatible devices, even though Microsoft had made it clear that computers that did not meet the system requirements would remain on Windows 10.
A few days ago a watermark appeared on the desktop of non-eligible Windows 11 PCs. At the same time, the upgrade was once once more offered to non-compatible PCs. According to Redmond it was an accident. In addition, the computers concerned were not authorized to complete the installation of the operating system. The problem has been corrected. The firm explains
Some ineligible Windows 10 and Windows 11 21H2 devices were offered an inaccurate upgrade to Windows 11. These ineligible devices did not meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11. Devices that experienced this issue did not been able to complete the upgrade installation process. This issue was detected on February 23, 2023 and resolved the same day.
Microsoft recommends users stick with Windows 10 if their devices don’t meet the system requirements. Windows 10 remains relevant. Its maintenance is ensured at least until October 2025.
