A Microsoft is investigating a problem in Windows 11 what cause BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and notifies a message written “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR” (unsupported processor). This situation has been happening since the last update that brought the KB5029351 version to computers using the operating system.
In that sense, some people have reported going through this on Reddit. The detail in common is that they all use systems with motherboards from MSI equipped with Intel chips and the latest BIOS update. Microsoft itself came to comment on the incident:
We are currently investigating to determine if this is an issue caused by Microsoft. We will provide an update when more information becomes available.
This new update even went through the necessary tests before being released, which still makes it a mystery to know what is the cause of the problem. At the very least, it looks like Microsoft has managed to pull this latest update out of PCs that have been affected by the blue screen of death issue.
Not only that, the computer is also able to recover following the BSOD error and roll back the update patch. The cause, although uncertain, may be related to recent BIOS updates from MSI, which serves to prepare boards for the 14th generation of Intel processors, the Raptor Lake-S.
The update has been implemented on the brand’s Z690 and Z790 platforms and all the issues reported on Reddit are with this new BIOS update. Including, MSI was contacted to talk regarding the subject and we will have news as soon as she pronounces.
Check out how Wi-Fi 7 support is in Windows and the update that brought fixes in versions 22H2 and 22H1 of the operating system.
