Windows 11 Preview – Canal Canary du programme Windows Insider

Microsoft has recently offered a new build of Windows 11, build 25987. It has arrived on the Canary channel of the Windows Insider program. The firm continues to make adjustments to its operating system. Most are aesthetic while others attempt to improve performance.

After replacing “Groove Music” with Media Player, the latest Preview of Windows 11 published on the Canary channel goes a little further. The “Maps” and “Movies & TV” applications disappear. Clearly they are no longer part of the native content of the OS. Microsoft clarified that existing users will be able to continue using them and will benefit from future updates. However, the reason for their removal is mysterious. Does Microsoft no longer want to highlight them or encourage their use?

The removal of the Maps app is unfortunate, as it offers a comprehensive feature set for efficient navigation.

At the same time, Windows 11 build 25987 brings some notable changes. In the Microsoft Store, a new feature allows you to choose the installation location when downloading games such as Starfield.

Other changes include adding an option to install Wi-Fi drivers during initial operating system setup (OOBE), updates to the “Distribution Optimization” Windows Settings, the ability to view and edit metadata for PNG image files, as well as fixes for File Explorer and some issues related to games and the settings page.

Please note, this build is not recommended for a production PC. Being on the Canary channel of the Windows Insider program, it is likely to be the victim of bugs and instabilities.
