Windows 11, KB5025299 introduces presence detection!

As part of the Windows Insider Program Microsoft is releasing update KB5025299. It is intended for PCs registered on the BETA channel. Installing it allows the operating system to upgrade to version 22624.1610 (new features enabled) or 22621.1610 (new features disabled).

This update does not bring many new features. It mainly focuses on security and privacy. Windows 11 is enriched with new privacy settings and an API presence sensor “. It is thus possible, if the PC is compatible, to use presence sensors to determine whether the user is in front of his machine or not.

In parallel, options provide management of confidentiality and applications authorized or not to access these sensors. It is important to emphasize that no images or metadata are collected by Microsoft in these processes. All processing is done locally through the PC hardware.

KB5025299 fixes an explorer.exe instability issue and fixes a compatibility issue. Microsoft does not go into details.
