Performance on Windows 11 improves. File copying speeds up following installing the recent Moment 2 update.
Windows 11 22H2 users are victims of a funny problem. For several months he reported that the operating system shows weaknesses when copying files. Clearly the performance is not at the rendezvous. It has been reported many times that transferring large files is slow.
This “painful” experience was observed following the transition to Windows 11 22H2. The drop in flow rates can be significant with times multiplied by two. For a few weeks Microsoft has been offering a fix. It is available through the Windows Insider program. The firm wants to make sure it works well in order to deploy it on a larger scale. A first step is taken since it is part of the Moment 2 update.
At least that’s what many feedback from users affected by the problem suggests. Ned Pyle from Microsoft has confirmed that the patch will be released through a so-called monthly update. This should be understood in the context of a Patch Tuesday.
The final patch for the production Windows 11 22H2 PC will come in a normal monthly rollup update via Windows Update once committed to Insider Builds.
It is therefore part of the Moment 2 update also known as KB5022913. It is currently optional. You have to go to Windows Update to trigger its download and install it. KB5022913 will be deployed automatically in a few days during the next Patch Tuesday (March 2023).
Note that Redmond has also corrected other serious problems for a few weeks. The latest concern performance issues in gaming and an untimely deactivation of the printing service.
