Windows 11 preview released as part of the Windows Insider program
Microsoft is behind a new build of Windows 11, build 23545. It is being deployed on the DEV channel of the Windows Insider program. One of the focuses concerns the most popular application of the operating system, File Explorer. We also have little new features here and there.
This new Preview has been available for download for several hours now. The software giant offers modifications and improvements. For example, new behaviors are being tested around the search area of the taskbar. After opening on hover, tooltips are offered. There is also the possible launch of the bing.com page when clicking on the highlighted element.
The nearby sharing function is armed with an option to quickly give a friendlier name to a machine. It is also possible to view “Teams” contacts to send them files directly using the operating system’s sharing window.

Regarding fixes, a long list of issues affecting File Explorer are resolved. The most notable concerns crashes when closing it and when opening two of its windows too quickly. The development team also addressed crashes when opening the new Gallery view, after adding new images, or when navigating away from the home page.
The file manager also benefits from performance improvements which are supposed to make it faster on launch. The firm explains
We’ve made a few additional fixes to help improve File Explorer launch performance, including fixing a leak that would impact performance over time.
Note that regarding certain slowness concerns, a tip was talked about a few days ago. If File Explorer shows signs of slowing down, double-pressing the F11 key should improve the situation.
