Native support for RAR, TAR, 7z files, among others, is already present in Windows 11, but only in the beta version for now. Build 23493, made available on the Dev channel for Windows Insiders, brought support for the famous RAR compression formats from WinRAR and 7z from 7zip. This update also brought the preview version of Windows Copilot, as reported by Oficina da Net.

In Windows 11 Build 23493, you can now right-click and extract the contents of zipped files in a variety of formats. According to the information released, the compressed file formats that are natively supported by Windows 11 are:
.tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .tar.zst, .tar.xz, .tgz .tbz2, .tzst, .txz .rar, .7z
Unfortunately, the native file unzipping feature still has bugs in Windows 11. According to Microsoft, when trying to copy large files or using the “extract all” function, performance may be slower than expected.

With the Windows 11 update to build 23493, a new volume mixer has been implemented. Now, when accessing the quick volume settings, you will see a new design for the volume mixer, which allows the user to quickly change the level in selected applications. Example: it is possible to change volume only from Spotify without changing from other apps.
It is possible to open the new volume mixer via the keyboard shortcut “windows + ctlr + V”.
Release and availability
Native compressed file format extraction feature and new volume mixer will be available to everyone in the 23H2 version update, expected to be released between September and November 2023.
