Windows 11 bug affects TPM 2.0 module on AMD Ryzen processors

Information shared by the Neowin portal suggests that the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor is facing a serious problem related to the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), a security module required by Microsoft when installing the Windows 11 operating system and, possibly, in the future Windows 12.

According to community reports, the CPU lost support for TPM 2.0 suddenly and for no apparent reason, with this suggesting to be a bug that can be corrected by Microsoft or AMD, companies that have not yet positioned themselves on the case of the alleged incompatibility. of the component with the security feature required in the minimum software requirements.

Apparently, this bug affects not only the 5800X3D, but other AMD processors as well, pointing to a possible firmware-related issue. It is possible that Microsoft is aware of the issue related to your system as the latest edition of Windows Autopilot scores error code “0x80070490” for TPM 2.0 on AMD chips.

The page states that “TPM attestation for AMD platforms with ASP TPM firmware may fail with error code 0x80070490 on Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. There are currently no updates available to resolve this issue”, corroborating that this is a failure that can be fixed via update.

For now, there is still no guidance from Microsoft or AMD on how users can resolve this issue, so it remains to wait for official information in future updates.
