Microsoft launched the latest beta version of the operating system, Windows 11, through the “Canary” developer channel, and some new features were monitored, such as artificial intelligence sound enhancement, 80 Gbps USB support, and a new image editing tool.
Microsoft releases trial versions to developers of any future updates to its operating system, in order to test and present upcoming solutions for developers to benefit from in their own programs, and therefore the features require some time for testing before they reach the average user.
In Windows 11 beta version 26040, changes appeared such as changing the “Remote Capture” feature that was introduced to the Phone Link application last year to the Snipping Tool. This feature allows users to access and edit the latest photos and screenshots from an Android mobile device in the Snipping Tool. On PC, it provides a push notification on PC when a new photo or screenshot is taken on the phone.
The Remote Capture tool needs to be enabled by going to Bluetooth Connection Settings, then Mobile Devices and choosing “Device Manager” to allow the computer to access the Android phone. It will require a sync tool from the Microsoft Store, which is necessary for the feature to work.
Microsoft is also expanding its Voice Clarity AI voice enhancement feature, which until now has only been available on Surface devices.
Voice Clarity cancels out background noise and reduces echo in real time using rudimentary AI models.
The default feature supports x64 and Arm64 CPUs in applications that use communications signal processing mode, such as Phone Link and WhatsApp.
Version 26040 also supports the latest generation 80Gbps USB standard, for select devices with new 14th Gen Intel mobile processors.
Microsoft notes that it is the first major release update to the USB4 standard, increasing performance from 40 Gbps to 80 Gbps and enabling the next generation of high-performance displays, storage, and connectivity.
It is also compatible with devices designed for older generations of USB and Thunderbolt.
There are also some new keyboard shortcuts on some apps.
