Windows 11, a new version of the media player is coming, what’s new?

Along with a new version of Notepad, Windows 11 PCs can download an updated media player. The release took place through the Windows Insider program.

Installing the update allows the media player aka Media Player to upgrade to version 11.2205. It is available for Windows 11 PCs enrolled in the DEV channel of the Windows Insiders program.

Windows 11 and Media Player

Media Player and sorting by date added

Microsoft announces performance improvements especially if large media collections are present. Added to this is a novelty. The firm explains that this is one of the main requests since the launch of the modern version of Media Player. It is now possible to sort songs and albums by date added.

Last March the Media Player got improvements for CD playback support. Now this advancement is available to all Insider Program users, regardless of the channel they are currently enrolled in. Finally we have improvements to theme changes and optimizations around the drag and drop of multimedia content.

We don’t have a schedule yet. Note that this is an update of the Media Player and not of Windows 11. Suddenly a large-scale deployment is possible as soon as the tests are completed.
