Windows 10, Microsoft unwittingly confirms 22H2 update

Windows 11 will get its first feature update, 22H2, in a few weeks. Windows 10 is not abandoned. The firm also plans to upgrade it. Clearly within a few months the 22H2 update will be deployed.

This next big Windows 10 feature update is no longer just a rumor or speculation. Microsoft has confirmed its existence. However, there is nothing surprising because this environment is still relevant. Redmond said so when launching Windows 11. Windows 10 will be supported for a few more years.

Regarding this confirmation, these are references to Windows 10 22H2 (Build 19045) spotted in the latest optional cumulative update. As assumed, Windows 10 22H2 (Build 19045) will be an evolution of Windows 10 2004 and will not bring major changes. Clearly no significant changes will be made to the operating system.

Windows 10 22H2, content and launch date

Update 22H2 will be the fourth “minor” update brought to 20H1 (2004). We already had 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2. Microsoft is planning a few improvements like rolling out the new search interface that recently came into existence with Windows 11.

Regarding the maintenance of Windows 10, Microsoft pointed out that the next feature updates will be deployed “ using maintenance technology “. Suddenly 22H2 will appear through an activation package via Windows Update. This is a kind of switch that will activate dormant features of the operating system, enough to evolve it to a new build number. This upgrade process should be quick.

For the moment if 22H2 does not announce any revolution, its exact content is not known. Microsoft is likely to tweak the experience to optimize it for productivity and security. Some of the changes will not target consumers. As for the release date, the appointment should take place next fall probably during the kickoff period of Windows 11 22H2.
