Wind Turbines on Ski Lift Supports | SN.at

Since most people think of the really large devices when they hear the word wind wheel (150 meters hub height or 250 meters total height), one thing should be considered: There are also smaller wind machines (rotor diameter five to ten meters), which in my opinion can be found on every lift support of this federal state (yes, for me every lift support is just as ugly as a wind turbine), at least with every new building or conversion. Imagine the infrastructure is on site and the lift as a consumer is also right at the end of the cable that would be stretched from support to support.

I realize that you can’t become self-sufficient with such small systems, but the energy costs for the ski area would drop rapidly. The only disadvantage would be that exposed runways with the greatest wind yield are also the areas that first have to shut down the runway for safety reasons due to strong winds or storms.
