After the first final, Daniel Quintero, the mayor of Medellín, used his Twitter account to send a striking message to Win Sports. Quintero asked how much he must pay to be able to show the second final in the public squares of Medellín. It should be noted that, for reasons of exclusivity, since the ‘pay per view’ format exists, Win does not allow Colombian soccer matches to be shown in public squares.

“Gentlemen Win Sports, how much do they charge me to put up giant screens for the final at 68, Provenza, Parque Lleras and Plaza Botero and why so expensive”, Daniel Quintero

Proposing a business was not the only thing the mayor of Medellín did. He revealed that he had already gotten sponsors to put up screens around the city, so he was just waiting for Win Sports.

The Win Sports statement.

Daniel Quintero was not the only mayor of Colombia with the intention of showing the League final in public squares. Comments were also made in Bogota in this regard. Because of this, Win Sports issued an official statement rejecting the money offered by Quintero and making it clear that the duel between Millonarios and Atlético Nacional cannot be seen in public spaces.

“The mayor’s office, or any third party, such as soccer clubs, the media, bars, etc., have not been licensed or authorized for the public retransmission of said content”
