Venezuelan Wilyer Abreu hit a pair of home runs in the Boston Red Sox’s 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers, in another day of Major League Baseball.
Abreu homered in consecutive at-bats in the duel that took place at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The first of the homers was in the fourth inning, with no teammates on base; while the other was in the sixth inning with two men on base.
The outfielder from Zulia reached 12 home runs and with the four RBIs he has accumulated 42 RBIs during the current campaign, which is his second in the Majors. In addition, he has an average of .275.
Boston is third in the American League East with a record of 59 wins and 51 losses, 6.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles.
Positive day
Another native who had a positive day was David Peralta. The outfielder hit a home run with two teammates in circulation in the San Diego Padres’ 10-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Peralta hit the home run in the sixth inning and accounted for the 6-1 partial in the duel celebrated at Petco Park, home of the religious team.
The native of Valencia, Carabobo state, went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a trio of RBIs. Teammate Luis Arráez finished 1-for-5 and stepped on the plate once.
