PT Wilmar Indonesia stated its commitment to continue producing professional and quality human resources (HR), especially in the palm oil sector, through a scholarship program.

Head of Human Capital Wilmar Erlina Panitri said that through the Wilmar Indonesia Scholarship (WIS) program, the company provides access to education for the community and children of employees who lack funds to continue their higher education.

“We are committed to supporting talented individuals from underprivileged backgrounds. Education is a powerful tool that can change lives. We strive to help open up opportunities for growth and success,” Erlina said in her statement in Jakarta, Thursday (18/7).

Through the WIS scholarship program, he continued, the company is making efforts to empower individuals, help them achieve their dreams and contribute positively to the industry, especially in the palm oil sector.

“Wilmar Scholarship continues to strive to help students realize their potential. Moving forward, we remain committed to creating pathways for more individuals to achieve their goals and improve their lives,” said Erlina.

The WIS program, he added, has been running for approximately the last decade, to help the community and children of employees access higher education and improve their quality of life.

One of the WIS scholarship recipients, Kelik Jatmiko, said access to higher education had helped him get a job and improve his quality of life.

The man from Magelang, Central Java, said that his poor family background had encouraged him to seek a scholarship that also provided a civil service bond.

“I gained a lot of experience and was given the space to contribute positively to the company,” said the Environment Health Safety Supervisor of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, Gresik.

Surya Purnawan Ganda, Head Process Engineer of PT Multimas Nabati Asahan, Serang, who is a scholarship recipient from the children of employees at the Wilmar Group, stated the same thing.

According to the man from Palembang, South Sumatra, the future in the palm oil industry is considered more promising, so he decided to take part in the Wilmar scholarship.

Kelik and Surya received scholarships to study at the Agricultural Institute (Instiper), Yogyakarta in 2013. The program is a collaboration between Wilmar and Instiper.

“In addition to education costs, the company also provides living costs, mentoring, monitoring, lecture materials, and teachers from the company’s employees,” said Surya. (Ant/N-2)
