Willy Huerta Olivas was sworn in on Tuesday at the Government Palace as the new head of the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter) to replace Mariano Gonzalezwho surprisingly left office just 15 days following taking office.
In a brief ceremony held in the Cáceres Hall of the Government Palace around 9:30 pm, President Pedro Castillo swore in the new member of the ministerial cabinet.

This is the seventh Minister of the Interior so far in the Government of Castillo Terrones, a few days following a year has passed since he took office.
They were previously in charge John Carrasco Millions (from July 28, 2021 to October 6 of the same year), Luis Barranzuela (from October 6, 2021 to November 3 of the same year) and Avelino Guillen (November 4, 2021 to January 30, 2022).
Likewise, Alfonso Chavarry (from February 1, 2022 to May 22 of the same year), Dimitri Senmache (from May 22 to June 30, when it was censured by Congress) and now Mariano Gonzalez (from July 4 to July 19).
