William Contreras continues on track to have his best offensive season in Major League Baseball (MLB) and this Wednesday he went out on a tear in the Milwaukee Brewers’ 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
The Venezuelan catcher hit the ball between center and left field at American Family Field, to contribute two runs in the five-run rally that the hops had in the fifth inning of the game.
Contreras has 18 home runs this season and is two away from his career high (20 in 2022). He also has 76 RBIs, also two away from the 78 he had last season, which is his highest so far.
Batting performance
The Carabobo native went 2-for-4 in the game where his team reached 76 wins, for 56 losses. He drove in two, scored a run and struck out once.
Another Venezuelan who also contributed to the winning cause was Jackson Chourio. The native of Zulia had one hit in four visits to the plate, drove in one and scored another.
Milwaukee (76-56) remains the leader of the National League Central Division with a nine-game advantage over its closest pursuer, the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers also have the third-best record in the old circuit, behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (79-54) and the Philadelphia Phillies (78-55).
