William Contreras punished the Los Angeles Dodgers

Venezuelan catcher William Contreras hit his third home run of the month last night in the start of the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

Contreras sent it flying all over right field with Jackson Chourio on board in the bottom of the sixth inning.

It was his 14th homer of the season and his first since August 8 against the Atlanta Braves. Contreras finished the night 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. Chourio went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

PABLO LÓPEZ STOOD OUT AGAIN

Venezuelan pitcher Pablo López had an outstanding performance yesterday with the Minnesota Twins who defeated the Kansas City Royals 8 runs to 3.

Lopez pitched six innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He struck out five batters and did not allow a walk in his 11th win of the season.

For the Royals, Salvador Perez went 1-for-4 and Maikel Garcia finished 1-for-3. Freddy Fermin replaced Perez at the end of the game.

REDS DEFEATED THE CARDINALS

Spencer Steer homered in consecutive at-bats and drove in five runs, Elly De La Cruz hit his team-leading 21st homer and the Cincinnati Reds beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 on Sunday night.

Andrew Abbott (10-9) allowed one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings to snap a three-game losing streak. The left-hander was tagged for 12 earned runs in his previous 13 innings.

For the Cardinals, Willson Contreras went 1-for-4 with one run scored and Pedro Pagés finished 1-for-3.
