Should we organize a national tribute for Alain Delon, as was the case for Charles Aznavour, Johnny Hallyday or his counterpart Jean-Paul Belmondo? The question arises, 48 hours after the death of this cinema legend… According to information from Europe 1, the Élysée is currently in discussions with the actor’s family to decide what form his funeral will take. But for Alain Delon’s admirers, opinions are divided, as Europe 1 noted, in front of Parisian cinemas.
“Paying homage in thought”
In front of her favorite cinema in the Latin Quarter in Paris, Huguette is still upset by the disappearance ofAlain Delon. However, despite her admiration for the actor, she does not want to hear about a national tribute. “No, because he was still a rather discreet man, who apparently liked solitude since he had retired to this property. Everyone had to pay tribute in thought or by going back to see his films,” she pleads.
Alain Delon himself did not want a national tribute, preferring an intimate funeral. A wish that Augustin, a film buff in his twenties, hopes to see implemented. “I totally respect the decision of the person it concerns, namely Alain Delon. I think it would have been good to have one, but if he doesn’t want it, we don’t do it,” he argues simply.
In front of another cinema in the neighbourhood, Robin, on the other hand, would like to see the last of the sacred monsters of cinema receive a funeral worthy of his legacy. “I think that for all the people who were born between the 1950s and even the 1980s, he was a figure who was important. And so I think it’s important to remember why he had such a mark on his time,” he explains. All agree on one point, however: the decision will have to be made by the actor’s family and them alone.
