The soaring price of gas, fuel and electricity worries all French people who fear an increase in the price of SNCF tickets.
As much as you reassure immediately, SNCF will not increase ticket prices this year, I promise. Indeed, the rail transport company indicates to buy its energy well in advance, as in the air.
We buy our energy well in advance
It should be known, the operator is the first industrial consumer of electricity in France. During a ‘press point’, the CEO of SNCF Voyageurs, Christophe Fanichet, spoke and wanted to reassure his customers: “With 10% of the total, we are the leading industrial consumer of electricity in France, but 95% of our energy in 2022 is purchased, we buy our electricity two to three years in advance. There will still be adjustments to be made this year which will have an impact for the operator of “a few tens of millions of euros“.
95% of our energy in 2022 is purchased
To save money and make travel ‘greener’, the SNCF increasingly uses renewable energies, as Christophe Fanichet points out: “We are greening our supply with much longer contracts over periods of 20 to 25 years“.
Government’s outstretched hand
Finally and to ‘keep its prices’, the SNCF will obtain specific aid from the government for industrial companies that consume a lot of energy.
lighter trains
For the future, SNCF is working on lighter trains, particularly for the regions, innovations that will reduce CO2 emissions with trains that can run on both road and rail. Named Flexy, this ‘little train’ will pick up users directly in their village, it will then take the road and then join the rails of the rail network.
