In this regard, the president of the National Federation of Cattle Ranchers (Fedenaga), Dr. Edgar Medina, clarified on August 23 that the union will maintain the prices of meat “at the farm gate,” that is, at each of the production units, so that there is no increase in the value of this protein for the consumer.
In an interview for Union RadioThe businessman detailed the costs currently handled in the production units, to clear up doubts for consumers. Although he acknowledged that in the last quarter the sector has shown an increase.
“The live animal, what we sell (…) is around $1.90 – $2, per kilo. That is precisely what increased a little in the last three months due to the increased demand for the meat product in Venezuela.“, Medina explained.
The Fedenaga manager clarified that in the Currently the price of a kilo of meat is between $7 and $8.
“There is no forecast for an increase in consumer prices, which, with the same price of $2, have raised the consumer price to between $7 and $8 dollars per kilo of meat.”, he highlighted in an interview for the program “2+2”.
