Just a few days ago, Nissan announced to us, with an inviting video, the possible arrival of a NISMO version of the sports Z, renewed last year.
However, now a small cold shower falls on the heads of manual transmission enthusiasts. The information circulating is that the Z NISMO would only be delivered with an automatic gearbox. This would disappoint fans of pure driving. There’s nothing confirmed from Nissan’s side, though.

Preview of the new Nissan Z NISMO
This information comes from an ordering guide that was leaked on the New Nissan Z forum. The latter suggests that the only gearbox offered will be an automatic type. And you wouldn’t even get the dual-clutch unit derived from the GT-R platform, but the same conventional torque-converter transmission from the standard Z.
Reviewing the video shared by Nissan, we can see that the car’s pedal assembly only seems to have one pedal for the brakes and another for the accelerator. We can also see paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
What this confirms is that the automatic transmission will be available with the model.
And the manual? The ordering guide does show that regular models are offered with both transmission types, but only the automatic is listed for the NISMO variant.
He also tells us that certain features would be exclusive to the product, however, such as an Alcantara interior, as well as NISMO stripes on the body. Exterior colors are black, red, white, gray and silver, with a contrasting roof.
Since the model is expected soon, it will not take long to be fixed. What is not impossible is that we will come a little later with a manual gearbox variant.
We won’t hold our breath, however.
