For much of the first half of the season, it appeared the Angels were unwilling to trade their pitcher/slugger Shohei Ohtani as they found themselves in the thick of contention in the AL West.
However, following losing nine of their last 10 games before the All-Star break, along with Mike Trout’s injury, will they change their minds with Ohtani headed for free agency following this season?
According to MLB Network reporter Jon Heyman, in an article for the New York Post newspaper, the answer is “maybe,” although he points out that sources close to Angels owner Arte Moreno indicate that it is unlikely that the superstar be transferred.
Either way, given how the Los Angeles club’s season is progressing, it’s definitely an option that one of the most shocking trades in history involving Ohtani happens before the Aug. 1 trade deadline.
Heyman points to the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Giants, Mariners, Padres and Rangers as possible destinations for Ohtani if anything comes to fruition.
