A few days ago, Skoda lifted the veil on the Vision 7S, a concept car announcing the arrival of a new seven-seater 100% electric SUV positioned above the current Enyaq iV. The production version of this large zero-emission SUV will probably not arrive before the year 2025, but by then the Czech manufacturer will have introduced other novelties in its range. In addition to a brand new electric city car and a compact SUV also with zero emissions, Skoda will soon lift the veil on the replacement for the Superb sedan. It must also restyle its small Kamiq and potentially replace its big Kodiaq, launched on the market in 2017 and restyled last year.
Knowing that the Vision 7S concept car also gives a glimpse of the stylistic orientation of the manufacturer’s future models, there is a good chance that the next production SUVs will be inspired by it very closely. This is the bet made by the illustrators of the site Bikes by imagining the design of an all-new Kodiaq. This new-generation Kodiaq, 100% virtual and purely speculative, sports a front end similar to that of the Vision 7S concept car with intriguingly designed optics and a massive Range Rover-style rear.
What strategy within the Volkswagen group?
Remember that the current Kodiaq has a chassis similar to that of the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and the Seat Tarraco. Will the Volkswagen group keep combustion engines on the next generations of these models? What degree of electrification will display the future Kodiaq whose career will probably last until the end of the current decade? It is possible that Skoda is rather content with a deep restyling of the current model, knowing that it seems less and less financially coherent to launch the development of entirely new thermal models given the rapid evolution of the European market.
