Will employees benefit from the increase in the number of annual vacation days? This is a question raised by more than one employee in light of the new draft law submitted by the Social Justice Group in the House of Councillors, which aims to increase the number of annual vacation days by amending Chapter 40 of Royal Decree No. 008-58-1 dated Shaaban 4, 1377 (February 24, 1958) relating to the general basic law of the civil service.
In this context, the parliamentary group indicated in its introductory memorandum that annual licenses for employees contribute significantly to stimulating domestic tourism and achieving significant additional added value for related sectors such as transportation, accommodation, catering, activation and other aspects of economic activity related to tourism activity.
The proponents of this proposal also stressed that annual leave for employees contributes to renewing enthusiasm and giving the employee a new spirit to work actively and perseveringly and increase job productivity.
In the same context, the Social Justice Group presented several examples of neighboring countries that grant more days (annual vacations) than Morocco (22 days), noting that neighboring Algeria, for example, employees receive 2.5 days per month, which means 30 days per year, while Tunisia grants them 30 days and 40 days for employees in difficult areas, while Spain grants this category 28 days, and France grants 25 days.
For the above, the Social Justice Group in the Second Chamber proposed that employees be granted an annual leave of 30 working days for each year.
