The English Football Association (FA) examines the conflict between coaches in the English Premier League (EPL) match between Chelsea and Tottenham.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte had a conflict in the second round of the 2022-2023 EPL season (2-2 draw) held at Stamford Bridge, London, England on the 15th (Korean time).
During the match, the two managers, who had a flag fight during the game, exploded in anger once more in the process of shaking hands at the end of the match.
The FA later issued a statement saying, “Tuchel and Conte are charged with violating FA Rule E3.
After the match, allegations were made that they acted inappropriately.”
E3 rules prohibit inappropriate or disrespectful behavior, violence, serious fouls, intimidation, and profanity.
Coach Tuchel and coach Conte must submit their respective statements to the FA by the 18th.
The BBC explained that the red cards the two coaches received did not lead to a suspension of play.
In other words, if the FA does not take additional disciplinary action, both coach Tuchel and manager Conte can keep the bench in the third round of the EPL.
However, coach Tuchel is expected to receive separate disciplinary action for publicly dissatisfied with the referee’s decision.
“Both goals from Tottenham cannot be credited,” Tuchel said in an interview following the match.
There’s only one team that deserves to win, and that’s us.”
He further said he wished referee Anthony Taylor, who was the referee once morest Tottenham, no longer in charge of Chelsea games.
The FA is also investigating Tuchel’s remarks.
