The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) will carry out the first PrevenIMSS Triathlon “Jump, Run and Wheel” at the national level, from March 12 to 14, 2022, where health education, promotion and prevention activities will be carried out in three aspects: healthy eating, physical activation, and PrevenIMSS Checkup, for the general population.
The director of Medical Benefits of the IMSS, Dr. Célida Duque Molina, said that the 35 Representative Offices in the states with units of First, Second and Third level of care, and the collaboration of the Operational Units of Institutional Social Benefits will participate in this activity. (UOPSI), to promote a recreational and family environment, through physical activities, improvement of health and comprehensive well-being.
He explained that on Saturday, March 12, the promotion of the Lose Kilos, Earn Life Program, food orientation, dissemination of food plans, gastronomic demonstrations, healthy menus and information on the NutrIMSS Educational Strategy will begin.
Duque Molina indicated that on Sunday the 13th there will be three physical activities, “Run, Jump and Roll”, sports actions where the participants will carry out a circuit that will cover various dynamics, according to their age, sex and physical condition.
He explained that within the “Run” component there will be walks, jogs and soccer games; Zumba, aerobics/step and dance classes will be given in the “Brinca” section; meanwhile, in the “Wheel” activity there will be an individual, family and spinning bike ride.
The director of Medical Benefits added that on Monday, March 14, self-care actions will be intensified to preserve health, prevent and control chronic-degenerative conditions, in addition to promoting the detection and prevention of diseases through the PrevenIMSS Checkup and CHKT Online.
For his part, Dr. Manuel Cervantes Ocampo, Coordinator of First Level Health Care, pointed out that these actions are massive-intensive sessions of PrevenIMSS Checkups and the use of Online CHKT in First Level medical units, and he also participates Second and Third regarding the promotion of tools to improve health and well-being.
He explained that the Triathlon “Jump, Run and Wheel” is organized within the framework of the launch of the Revalued PrevenIMSS, to promote a better quality of life and a state of well-being, in a family environment through recreational physical activities, continuity to the programs education, health promotion and disease prevention.
He invited the population to attend these events in the company of family and friends, where experts from the Institute will promote health care, healthy eating and exercise as part of the daily routine.
Dr. Manuel Cervantes recommended that people who will participate in the physical activities wear comfortable clothes and shoes, have breakfast beforehand, and have a container of water to hydrate during the event.
During the scheduled activities, sanitary and protective measures will be applied to avoid COVID-19 infections, including frequent hand hygiene, use of face masks and healthy distance.
