Sofia Sajamba’s body will be buried today, in the Benfica cemetery, simultaneously with that of another young woman who had been mistaken for her by her family. It was necessary to exhume her body last Saturday in Luanda, as it had already been mistakenly buried by another family

Late Saturday followingnoon, the body of the deceased was exhumed, who in life was called Sofia Sajamba, 20 years old, who died on December 30th, on the way to the General Hospital of Luanda, victim of illness. . According to the young woman’s grandfather, Domingos Pedro, on the 31st, the General hospital transferred the body to the Maria Pia morgue, with the family following the process until it was placed in the morgue, this in the morning, but due to the fact Since it was during a festive period, it was not possible to hold the funeral on the 2nd of January, moving it to the 3rd.

Already at the Maria Pia Hospital morgue, Sofia Sajamba’s family decided to search together with the staff working at the morgue, but they were unable to locate the body. The search ended at 5 pm and they had to move on to the next day. On the 4th, morgue staff concluded that her body was taken by another family by mistake. Domingos Pedro said that the morgue staff did not register any agility in searching for the body, so he decided to participate in order to obtain more help.

Contacts were made, until a family was found that had already held their relative’s funeral, but identified that the buried body was still in the morgue. In addition to Sofia’s family and the morgue staff, SIC and GPL also joined. Still in the morgue, the father of the 26-year-old girl who buried Sofia Sajamba, thinking she was her daughter, recognized the body in the morgue. However, Domingos Pedro and his family decided to exhume their loved one’s body and hold the funeral once more.

The exhumation took place last Saturday, the body was placed in the morgue, and the funeral takes place today at the Benfica cemetery. Sofia Jasamba’s grandfather regrets what happened and asks that people be held responsible for the inconvenience caused. “We had to mobilize 13 family members to enter the morgue and search for our relative’s body, drawer by drawer, and the others are still gathered in the death house. At this point, we no longer have the financial conditions to cover expenses”, said Domingos Pedro Cuamba.
