Wild chase in Micheldorf: Drunk man hid in the forest

On Thursday followingnoon, officers from the Klaus motorway police pursued a car that had previously been traveling on the A9 at 159 km/h in the 100 speed range. The police officers drove following the fleeing driver with flashing lights and a horn. He accelerated, endangering other road users, and then left the motorway in Klaus towards Kirchdorf.

Escaped into the forest

Then I raced at 125 km/h over the B 140 onto the narrow, confusing Steyrtal cycle path. In doing so, he in turn endangered oncoming cyclists. Due to an accident following regarding 1.5 km, the police were able to catch up with the car. When the officers arrived, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran. He fled over the B140 and over the steep embankment through the forest. After a few 100 meters, the accused was arrested by the two police officers.

License plate stolen

During the investigation, officers discovered that the car involved was not registered for traffic. The license plates were stolen last night. The accused is also suspected of having committed fuel fraud in Vienna with other suppressed license plates the previous night.

An alcohol test on the 27-year-old Romanian citizen showed a blood alcohol level of 1.28. After consultation with the Steyr public prosecutor’s office, the accused is taken to the prison.
