Wild and Rossi finish with an overtime defeat

The Minnesota Wild and Marco Rossi close the NHL regular season with a 3-4 following overtime at the Nashville Predators.

While Nic Petan, who was also pulled up, scored a point with his first goal to make it 3:3, the Austrian has to wait for his first goal or another scorer point.

With 17:31 minutes of ice time, the 21-year-old is well used and also sees almost a minute each in power play and penalty killing. Although he has to end the evening with a plus-minus balance of minus two, especially towards the end of the game Rossi’s appearance is more self-confidence.

New contract for Gaudreau – Wild vs. Stars or Avalanche

It’s a successful day for Wild striker Frederick Gaudreau: He signs a contract extension for five years and 10.5 million US dollars before the game. He thanks the trust with a double pack, his season goals 18 and 19.

The Minnesota Wild finish third in the Central Division and will face the winner of the first round of the playoffs: the Dallas Stars or the Colorado Avalanche.

The “Avs” are a point behind and still have a game to play – away to Nashville on Saturday night. They need two points to go past and become the Wild’s playoff opponent, if tied, Dallas is ahead.

The Vegas Golden Knights go into the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the number one West in the West following a 3-1 win at the Seattle Kraken. They’re keeping the Edmonton Oilers in check, who have to settle for second place despite beating the San Jose Sharks 5-2 in their ninth straight win.

The Carolina Hurricanes secure the Metropolitan Division win with a 6-4 win over the Florida Panthers. The New Jersey Devils – 5-4 following overtime at the Washington Capitals – are second and look forward to a hot “Hudson River Derby” once morest the New York Rangers in the first round.
