Paris: Cyber attacks at the start of the Ukraine war have widely disrupted the Internet in Europe.
Orange, the telecommunications operator, reported that a cyber attack on February 24 had disrupted the internet connection of 9,000 customers in France. One-third of customers in Germany, France, Hungary, Greece, Italy and Poland did not have access to the Internet, according to BigBlue, a satellite Internet service. BigBlue has 40,000 users in Europe.
The cyber attack also affected the operations of ViaSat and Utilsat. Vyasat says Internet connection has been partially cut off in the US. The company did not disclose further details. Ukraine has accused Russia of hacking local government websites to spread false information.
