Wichtelwerkstatt moves into a former butcher's shop

It is another new idea with which the village cooperative “Ums Egg” wants to revitalize the center of the Ennstal community: The cooperative’s elves workshop is currently moving into the former Schachner butcher’s shop, which has been empty for weeks and was most recently home to a knitting workshop. The local supplier, which was founded five years ago as an Austria-wide pioneer, now operates locations in Losenstein (“Ums Egg”), at Steyr Wieserfeldplatz (“Steyrdorfladen”) and in the Styrian communities of Ardning and Pruggern (“Regionalregal”).

“We were looking for space to be able to process larger orders for the Christmas business with gift boxes and Santa bags for customers and companies,” says Bernd Fischer, managing director of “Ums Egg”. And that’s where they found what they were looking for, directly opposite the Schachner family’s own shop. “Brigitte Schachner was immediately enthusiastic and even made her premises available to us for the Secret Santa workshop free of charge for the next two months as long as no new tenant was found,” says Fischer. “We have enough space here to be able to meet the increased demand for gift sets before Christmas.”

This is a new service from “Ums Egg” that is intended to become a second pillar of the cooperative: the compilation of gift boxes with regional products from the range of now more than 90 suppliers for customers and company employees. “We have numerous orders in the Secret Santa workshop for some larger companies from Steyr and the surrounding area.”

Regionality was also taken into account when designing the window display for the pop-up: a member from Ardning, graphic designer Daniela Fößleitner, spontaneously took over this.
