According to UFC-Que Choisir, the end of November would be the best time to buy Christmas toys. Until the beginning of December, prices should remain the same as those offered in the catalogs before experiencing an increase, reports BFM TV this Monday.
An increase from December 3 or 6?
For eighteen months, the consumer association has been monitoring price variations for 128 toys in France. At the beginning of the fall, it revealed that these products had seen an increase of 2.3%. But currently, it seems that an average drop of 10% is observed on the toys in the sample monitored.
Still according to UFC-Que Choisir, waiting until December could force you to pay more for these toys. In fact, the prices listed in the Christmas catalogs are only guaranteed until December 3 or 6. Thereafter, nothing stops toy stores from raising prices. Only Kingtoy points of sale will keep the same prices until Christmas.
Online or in store?
Prices should therefore gradually increase. But this is an increase that can be observed every year during the end-of-year holiday period. A study carried out by Idealo highlighted the fact that a 19% increase in toy prices could be seen between September and Christmas, as reported by Europe 1.
However, buying in store remains the safest way to get a good deal. On online sales sites like Amazon, the price of a toy can vary from one day to the next without any real explanation. In physical points of sale, the price displayed on the catalogs ensures that no variation will be made before the expiry date of the latter.
