Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has reiterated on more than one occasion that he never wants to wear the New York Yankees uniform. The Gold Glove winner’s favorite victim is the Bronx Mules, a team he seems to have hated for a long time.
‘Vladdy’ gave an interview in which he said he doesn’t see himself as a member of the Yankees, sending a clear message to Blue Jays management, who have yet to offer him a contract extension.
“I don’t think they (Blue Jays) are as bad as trading me to the Yankees or any MLB team. I don’t think they’re going to trade me to a team in their division. That’s not going to happen,” Guerrero Jr. said.
“I just don’t see myself in the Yankees. It’s nothing once morest the players. I just don’t see myself,” he said.
Guerrero Jr. said in the offseason that he likes to play in New York because he loves to “punish the Yankees.” And when they asked him if he would play for the Yankees, he replied: “not even dead.”
“These are personal things,” Guerrero Jr. reiterated last week, in statements replicated by the MLB.com portal. “It’s a family thing. That is my decision and I will never change it.”
