“Why the Walfadjri TV channel was suspended”

From Thursday June 1, 2023 to Thursday July 1, 2023, Walfadjri will not be able to broadcast. The television of the late Sidy Lamine Niasse is thus suspended. A decision that has just been explained by the supervisory ministry.

In extenso, the press release from the Ministry of Communication:

“Noting that in covering the situation of tension in Senegal, on June 1, 2023, the WALFADJRI group
has continued to broadcast images of violence exposing adolescents on a loop.

Noting that these images are accompanied by subversive, hateful, dangerous remarks inciting violence and manifestly undermining State security, territorial integrity, stability and social peace, in flagrant violation of all its obligations, in particular that of ensuring that:

safeguard peace, public order and the imperatives of national security and defence;

– Do not broadcast programs that explicitly or implicitly glorify violence;

ensure the protection of minor children once morest productions that might compromise their moral and intellectual development;

– Do not encourage children and adolescents, explicitly or implicitly, to criminal and harmful behavior;

-Do not encourage behavior likely to harm the safety and property of people.
Considering that these facts constitute a violation of the conditions having allowed the authorization of establishment and/or
license issued by the Minister in charge of Communication and provided for in article 94 of the law establishing the Press Code.
